About 1 year(s) ago by The Bristol Hotel

Annual Beach Kite Festival
Saturday, March 7, 2015 @ 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Dusty Rhodes Park, Sunset Cliffs Blvd. at Nimitz

Check out an assortment of colorful kites, many shaped like marine animals, soaring through the sky at Dusty Rhodes Park. Each year, the Kiwanis Club presents this event where crowds can enjoy the wind, waves and sun. Enjoy free kite-making onsite, with instructions for the little ones to guide their creations through the sky. Prizes will be awarded for the most creative kites, and the decorations are sure to create quite a scene! Since these contests are arranged by age category, even the little ones will have the chance to win.

Once you fly a kite, enjoy a full afternoon of family-friendly festivities. Enjoy carnival rides and a craft fair to accompany the main event. As a locally loved tradition, the Kite Fair is the oldest children's kite festival in the country. In San Diego, this third-generation activity has now been passed down from grandparents to parents to their kids. All materials are provided, with no strings attached. If you are visiting San Diego from out of town, this is a great opportunity to get out and do something a little different.

Browse for homemade trinkets and treasures at the Craft Fair, which will showcase a number of local artists' creative handiworks. Enjoy entertainment and lunch provided at the event as well. Book your stay at The Bristol Hotel, a premier boutique hotel with modern style and a prime location in downtown San Diego.
