If you’re looking for a little luck of the Irish this St. Patty’s Day, make your way to the 33rd annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Irish Festival in San Diego’s beautiful Balboa Park. Leprechauns of all ages will enjoy the treat of viewing this exciting parade that includes rollicking marching bands, authentic Irish musicians, multicolored floats, cheer and drill squads, clowns, equestrians, bagpipe players, dancers, antique cars, and this year’s Parade Chair, Tony Mande. After the parade, bring the wee ones down to Balboa Park to search for four-leafed clovers and enjoy a little Irish revelry at the Irish Festival. Partiers young and old will enjoy a full day of family friendly entertainment with live performances from bagpipe groups, folk musicians and Celtic groups strutting their stuff on two different stages. Be sure to explore the authentic Celtic village for fun kiddie rides, thrilling Irish fighting demonstrations, dance performances, food and drink at the beer gardens, and interesting craft booths. The St. Patrick’s Day parade route starts at scenic Balboa Park at the corner of Sixth Avenue and Juniper Street and runs in a circle back to the park for the festival. The San Diego St. Patrick’s Day Parade starts at 10:30am and the Irish Festival runs from 9am-6pm, both on March 16th.
