Bike The BayWith an average of 266 sunny days a year, San Diego is one of the best cities in the country to take a bike ride, almost any day. But one day of the year, you have the opportunity to take the ultimate bike ride of the city, Bike the Bay, circling the entirety of San Diego Bay.
The 25-mile ride kicks off at Embarcadero Marina Park South, at the foot of Marina Park Way, right on the shores of the bay. The first leg takes riders across the majestic Coronado Bridge, the one day of the year when bicyclists can ride across the bridge. Marvel in the sweeping views as you crest over the top of the span!
Once on the other side, the route runs the entire length of the Silver Strand, connecting Coronado to the base of San Diego Bay at Imperial Beach. Riders will then follow the Bayshore Bikeway through the Chula Vista, Pepper Park and National City before returning to the starting point in San Diego. The 25-mile ride is not timed, non-competitive, and level enough that bikers of all levels of experience can enjoy it.
At the end of the ride will be a festival with food, beverages and entertainment in Marina Park, so bikers can unwind and socialize.
Bikers are advised to arrive early, to avoid long lines at registration and get riding on time. Event parking is available for $10 at nearby garages, and several other paid lots are nearby. Also, Marina Park is a very short bike ride from the Bristol Hotel.
