Gay Pride San Diego
Hillcrest has long been a bastion of LGBT culture in the wide spectrum of San Diego’s diverse demographic. It serves as the gathering place for the 40th annual San Diego Pride Parade this July 19th. The parade, historically attracting upwards of 300,000 participants and spectators, begins at the iconic Hillcrest Pride Flag at University Avenue and Normal Street. It continues for just over a mile and ends at the corner of Balboa Drive and Upas Street. As always, the event is free, and all are welcome to attend.
This year’s theme, as the 40th anniversary, is titled “Reflections of Pride.” Special consideration is given to San Diego LGBT Pride’s humble roots in 1974, the inaugural year of the parade and organization. The organization has stayed afloat and strong through the years and this year’s celebration is truly one of perseverance and a call to both honor and record LGBT history.
Book you stay at the Bristol for this year’s pride now for what is sure to be a busy and popular weekend!
