Halloween in San Diego’s Historic District
The Gaslamp Quarter is the place to be in San Diego for spooky Halloween fun. This historic neighborhood, once the "haunt"-ha ha-of Wild West outlaw types, is ripe for some bloodcurdling action. Each year, revelers descend upon the Gaslamp Quarter, looking for a frightfully good time.
The Haunted Hotel is a great place to start for scaring up ghoulish thrills. Take a cringeworthy stroll through the funhouse of horrors-be warned, it’s not for the faint of heart. The Hotel has been named one of the Top 13 Haunted Houses by Haunt World Magazine, so you know they’re serious about their scares. Warning: it’s not appropriate for children under the age of 10.
A Halloween Block Party on the Fringe
If you’re more into the fun side of Halloween, head to the 13th Annual Monster Bash. This outdoor dance party, for those 21 and older, is on the outskirts of the Gaslamp Quarter. The main "Gate to Hell" is at 6th Avenue and Market. If you’re wearing a costume, enter the Costume Contest, which boasts a $5,000 cash prize!
Covering 8 city blocks, the Monster Bash includes 3 stages and 10 bars. "Toxic" go-go dancers bring inspiration to the crowds to get into the groove. Three "Mega Clubs" will boast the awesome sounds of DJs hailing from all over the globe, including local SD talent. The party starts at 6 p.m. and ends at midnight.
Be sure to book a room at the Bristol Hotel, walking distance to the Gaslamp Quarter, for your Halloween accommodations!
