Earth Day Facts -

April 22nd, 1970, marks the birth of the modern environmental movement, when 20 million Americans took to the streets across the country in the name of conservation. Capitalizing on the prevalent activism of the time, organizers united people from all walks of life against repeated oil spills, gross pollution, toxic dumps, and abject destruction of wilderness. That famous first Earth Day led to the creation of the Environmental Protection Agency, as well as the passing of the Clean Air, Clean Water, and Endangered Species Acts.

and the smell of grilling hot dogs in the air: it’s football season, which in
San Diego means that it is Chargers season. The San Diego Chargers professional
football team brings great pride to a city and is the only NFL team in Southern
California

Located just seven miles from our newly renovated boutique hotel,
Qualcomm Stadium is the headquarters of the San Diego Chargers football team.
With plenty of room for tailgating and over 18,500 parking spaces, this massive
stadium that seats over 71,000 screaming fans has been expanded in the last
decade to create a comfortable and energetic Chargers football experience.

At Qualcomm Stadium, you’ll also find three restaurants to dine before
the game, four lounges for hanging out or having a beer, and two gift shops for
picking up all that Chargers football team paraphernalia. Put on your white and

They came mostly from San Francisco in the wake of the earthquake that had struck that Northern California city. Construction of Interstate 5 in the 1960’s and 1970s eliminated over a third of the neighborhood. However, in 1994 the Little Italy Association of San Diego was formed, and the neighborhood organized to promote its heritage. In addition to the many Italian shops and restaurants in SD’s Little Italy, several events are held in the neighborhood.

This intimate area features an eclectic mix of buildings, personalities, and activities. FESTA San Diego brings out the best of the neighborhood each year. The festival continues to draw big crowds to India Street, where world-class cuisine and culture convene in delicious ways.

On Saturday mornings you can attend the Little Italy Mercato from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. This farmer’s market features fruits, vegetables, bakery, and locally caught seafood. On Sunday October 14th, Little Italy will host FESTA! It’s all day celebration of Italian heritage and tradition.
It all kicks off Friday October 12 at 4:30 with a Battle of the Bands starting shortly after at 5:15. Legendary San Diego modern rock station 91X (XETRA 91.1 FM) will be broadcasting live.
