Each year, December Nights Balboa Park offers the people San Diego a chance to come together as one and celebrate the advent of the holiday season. It not only brings the community together, but also raises cultural awareness within the city and how the park fosters and contributes to it.
The December Nights experience is truly unique and multicultural, bearing many facets of culture within San Diego and further afield. Don't miss out on the excellent food at the International Christmas Festival at the House of Pacific Relations Cottages (you'll literally get a taste of Christmastime eats from all over the world) or the unique and sustainable shopping at the museum stores and with the talented artisans of the Spanish Village. Check out dance interpretations and musical performances from the San Diego Junior Theatre, the San Diego Civic Youth Ballet, and countless other local groups. And, totally new for 2014, take an exhilarating ride on the "December Flights" zipline, which takes you on a 200-foot ride past the famous Moreton Bay Fig Tree.
As part of a greater green initiative, visitors are encouraged to take public transportation or bike on the 5th and 6th. Parking spaces are certainly limited. More information about specific vendors, transportation guidelines, event times, and the like can be found at http://www.balboapark.org/decembernights/. See you soon in the park!
